XMOS introduces the new xCORE-200 multi-core microcontroller family with Gigabit Ethernet support

     XMOS Corporation announced the launch of its new family of Gigabit Ethernet-enabled xCORE-200™ multi-core microcontrollers and announced the first commercial shipping customers. By integrating 16 high-performance 32-bit RISC processor cores into a single device, the first xCORE-200 devices provide up to 2000MIPs of real-time computing power. It is also the first commercially available 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet solution with a programmable MAC layer that supports Internet web servers. This advanced capability, based on a low-cost multi-core microcontroller, opens the door to a whole suite of gigabit speed Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

     Nigel Toon, CEO of XMOS, said: "Compared to our first-generation xCORE multi-core microcontrollers, this next-generation XCore-200 product family delivers twice the performance and four times the on-chip SRAM storage. They add a flexible Gigabit Ethernet port to a high-performance, programmable XMOS USB 2.0 interface. These devices also offer up to 2Mbyte on-chip Flash memory for system-level integration and security. This combination of performance and real-time flexibility makes the xCORE-200 the perfect programmable platform for high-performance user, professional audio and emerging gigabit speed Internet of Things (IoT) applications."
