Vishay upgraded TFBS4xx and TFDU4xx series infrared transceiver modules

     Vishay Intertechnology has announced the introduction of upgraded TFBS4xx and TFDU4xx series infrared (IR) transceiver modules for IrDA applications, extending the link distance by 20% and increasing ESD resistance to 2 kV. The device supports 115.2 kbit/s data rate (SIR) with a link distance of 1 meter and is suitable for energy meters and monitors, industrial automation control, wireless communication and data transmission of mobile phones and medical devices. To improve the battery life of portable devices, the module reduces power consumption and idle supply current. 70 μA, Off mode < 1 μA.

     The Vishay Semiconductors TFBS4xxx and TFDU4xxx family devices include PIN photodiodes, infrared emitters (IRED), and low-power control ics in a single package. The upgraded infrared transceiver uses new IC and surface transmitter chip technology developed in-house by Vishay to ensure a long-term supply of IRDC products to customers. As a plug-and-play alternative to existing devices, these modules do not require redesigning the PCB, contributing to cost savings.

     The TFBS4xxx and TFDU4xxx family of devices, which comply with the latest IrDA physical layer standards, are backward compatible and available in top-view and side-view surface-mount packages. The enhanced solution can replace existing family devices in a plug-and-play manner. Devices are RoHS and Vishay green compliant, halogen-free, available in a variety of package sizes, operating voltages from 2.4V to 5.5V, and operating temperatures from -25C to + 85C.
