Vishay continues to expand its range of high-performance surface mount polymer tantalum capacitors
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH announced the continued expansion of its vPolyTan™ T55 family of surface-mount polymer tantalum capacitors with the introduction of A, B, and T(with a maximum height of 1.2mm for low-height B shapes) in eight new performance specifications. The Vishay Polytech T55 series leverages Vishay's leading packaging technology and recent investments in tantalum polymer technology to provide significantly increased capacitance and significantly reduced ESR for computer, communications and industrial applications.
At 2.5V, B-shape capacitors have a capacitance of up to 470μF and an ESR of 25 Mω, while capacitors with a capacitance of 330μF also have a lower ESR of 25 Mω. At 6.3V, the A and T form factor devices have improved ESR, the 100μF device has an ESR of 70mΩ, and the 33μF and 220μF B form factor devices have an ESR of 40mΩ and 35mΩ, respectively. At 10V, ESR of 47μF B-form factor devices can be as low as 70 Mω.
The low ESR of the T55 capacitor is due to its polymer negative electrode, which enables the capacitor to perform far better than devices using manganese dioxide materials. In addition, these devices have ripple currents up to 2.28A IRMS and low internal resistance for improved charging and discharge characteristics. Capacitors are suitable for power management, battery decoupling and energy storage in computers, tablets, smartphones, wireless data cards and solid state drives.
The T55 series is available in five small dimensions, including J, P, A, B and T, with capacitances from 3.3μF to 470μF, voltage classes from 2.5V to 10V, and capacitance tolerances of ±20%. The device has an ultra-low ESR of 500mΩ to 25mΩ at +25℃ and 100kHz, and can operate in the temperature range of -55℃ to +105℃, and voltage derating is required when the temperature exceeds +85℃.
The T55 series capacitors are lead-free, RoHS and Vishay green compliant and halogen-free. The device is suitable for high-speed automatic pickup and placement equipment with a moisture sensitivity level (MSL) of 3.
