Vishay announces its new AEC-Q200 certified 25W thick film power resistor

     Vishay has released its new AEC-Q200 certified 25W thick film power resistor, the DTO25, in a small size, surface-mount TO-252 (DPAK) package. For automotive, industrial and defense applications, the Vishay Sfernice DTO25 saves more space than its predecessor, delivers more than 3W of power dissipation on PCBS, and offers a wide range of resistance values.

     The DTO25 is a non-inductive device with resistance values ranging from 0.016Ω to 700 kω, an external dimension of 8.2mm x 7.3mm in area and 2.8mm in thickness, and can withstand 10 times more energy than competing components in the DPAK package, that is, withstand up to 5kW of power for a 10-5 second pulse and 10J of energy for a 0.1 second pulse.

     The device has good long-term reliability and can be used for power supplies, load resistors, buffers, power conversion, and pre-charging and discharging in battery management systems for hybrid and pure electric vehicles, missile control boards and UPS. In these applications, resistors enable designers to perform the functions of multiple chip resistors with a single device, thereby saving costs, simplifying layout design, and reducing the size of the final product.

     At 25W and +25 ° C, the thermal resistance of the junction to the housing of the DTO25 resistor is 5 ° C /W. The standard temperature coefficient of the resistance is 150ppm/℃, and the standard tolerance is ±1% ~ ±10%. The specified operating temperature is -55℃ ~ +150℃. The device is RoHS compliant, has a moisture sensitivity of 1 and can withstand welding temperatures of +270 ° C for up to 10 seconds.
