Vishay WSBE Power Metal Strip shunt resistors save space, simplify design and improve accuracy

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced the launch of a new line of AEC-Q200 certified Power Metal Strip shunt resistors, WSBE, with TCR as low as ± 10 ppm/°C, one of the lowest in its class. With resistance values as low as 15 μΩ and power ratings up to 50 W, the Vishay Dale WSBE family of devices is suitable for automotive, energy, industrial and space applications.
These devices have ultra-low TCR performance thanks to solid metal resistance elements and patented TCR optimization technology. This unique design reduces TCR without temperature compensation and simplifies the required calibration to a two-point calibration process. This design also simplifies the compensation software required and reduces the number of components needed to respond to temperature offsets, saving space, simplifying design and product development, reducing costs, and improving accuracy.
The shell size of WSBE series devices is divided into 8518 and 8536, and due to the use of proprietary processing technology, the generated resistance value is extremely low. Combined with A high power rating and 1% lifetime stability, the WSBE series acts as a high-current resistor that can withstand currents up to 1825 A without significant resistance bias.
The WSBE series is designed for current measurement in battery management systems (BMS), helping to eliminate the need for temperature sensing and software calibration during production. These devices are ideal for the charging infrastructure of electric (EV) and hybrid (HEV) vehicles such as golf carts and motorcycles. Other applications include energy monitoring and metering systems, large battery systems, UPS backup batteries, inverters for industrial motor drives and tools, and satellites.
These resistors feature an all-welded construction with inductance values as low as < 5 nH, a thermal EMF as low as 1.25 μV/°C, and an operating temperature range of -65 °C to +170 °C. These devices are RoHS compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green compliant.
