U-blox is leading the innovation in automotive GNSS technology with unconnected 3D inertial navigation

     U-blox, a global leader in wireless and positioning modules and chips, announced the launch of the industry's first Untethered 3D Dead Reckoning (UDR) module, the NEO-M8U. Combined with multiple GNSS(GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo) and the 3D gyroscope/accelerator on the circuit board, the NEO M8U provides accurate positioning results even in areas where the GNSS signal is weak or obscured, and it only needs to be connected to the car's power supply to operate smoothly.

     The u-blox NEO-M8U module provides superior multipath suppression, improving location accuracy even in harsh environments such as built-up urban areas, tunnels, or parking lots. In central London, for example, NEO-M8U is three times more accurate than a conventional GNSS receiver. In addition, the NEO-M8U provides location information as soon as it is turned on, eliminating the need to wait for the first location time like a normal GNSS receiver.

     One of the key benefits of NEO-M8U is that it simplifies product development and installation. The NEO-M8U looks and operates the same as a normal GNSS receiver, without any special installation or connection on the vehicle. Thanks to its intelligent sensing and continuous self-correction function, the NEO-M8U can be mounted on the car in any position.

     Other features include a real-time update rate of up to 20 Hz for smooth navigation operations; High-speed access to raw sensor data facilitates driving behavior analysis and instantaneous acceleration detection in the event of an accident.
