Toshiba introduces multi-channel transient suppression diodes for protecting high-speed interfaces in mobile devices
Toshiba Corporation's Storage and Electronic Component Solutions company announced the launch of a new family of multi-channel low-capacitance transient suppression (TVS) diodes designed to provide anti-electrostatic discharge (ESD) and anti-surge voltage protection for high-speed interfaces. The new series includes four products for USB Type-C and HDMI interfaces, which can be used in mobile devices such as smartphones, wearables and tablets. This family of transient suppression diodes provides enhanced protection while supporting lower dynamic resistance and clamping voltage. All four products are packaged in a small LGA package with approximately 30% less packaging space than Toshiba's existing products .
As electronic devices such as smartphones, wearables, tablets, laptops, office equipment and LCD panels continue to miniaturize and offer increasingly high-performance features, so do the semiconductor products used in these electronic devices. Therefore, the market is increasingly in need of devices that provide anti-static discharge and anti-surge voltage protection for semiconductors. Moreover, when used to protect USB Type-C, HDMI, and other high-speed interfaces, low capacitance products also prevent attenuation of the transmitted signal.
Toshiba's new family of transient suppression diode products features features and terminal layouts designed to protect high-speed interfaces for cutting-edge electronic devices. Manufactured using Toshiba's proprietary EAP-IV process, it achieves lower dynamic resistance and clamping voltage compared to Toshiba's existing products, while improving overall protection by reducing the impact of electrostatic discharge and surge voltage on late equipment. The diodes are packaged in a small LGA type package with approximately 30% less packaging space than Toshiba's existing products. The new system offers 4-bit and 2-bit products for 3.3V and 5.0V signal lines, making it easy for users to select products that match the interface voltage of their system.
