ROHM has developed an ultra-compact 1.8V-5V, rail-to-rail CMOS op–amp, the TLR377GYZ. It is optimised for amplifying signals from sensors such as temperature, pressure, and flow rate, which are used in smartphones, small IoT devices, and similar applications.

     ROHM has developed an ultra-compact 1.8V-5V rail-to-rail CMOS op-amp TLR377GYZ. It is optimized to amplify signals from sensors such as temperature, pressure, and flow, which are used in smartphones, small iot devices, and similar applications.

     Smartphones and iot devices continue to shrink in size, requiring smaller components. Operational amplifiers must improve low input bias voltage and noise performance, while continuing to shrink the form factor to accurately amplify the small signals needed for high-precision sensing.

     The device successfully balances miniaturization and high precision (difficult to achieve with traditional opamps) by further developing proprietary circuit design, process, and packaging technologies cultivated over many years.

     The input bias voltage and noise generation of operational amplifiers reduce amplification accuracy, which can be suppressed by increasing the size of the built-in transistors, but at the cost of miniaturization. To this end, the company has developed proprietary circuits that achieve maximum offset voltages as low as 1mV without increasing transistor size.

     In addition, the proprietary process technology greatly reduces flicker noise while achieving ultra-low noise at an input equivalent noise voltage density of 12nV/√Hz by optimizing the resistance elements at the element level. In addition, the new product uses WLCSP, the ball distance is only 0.3mm, and the original packaging technology is used. The size is reduced by approximately 69 percent compared to conventional products and 46 percent compared to existing compact products.
