The new ultra-compact LTE Cat 1bis cellular module supports global connectivity

     U-blox has announced the expansion of its popular R10 family into the fast-growing LTE Cat 1bis cellular connectivity market. The new module strengthens the company's LTE Cat 1bis portfolio to serve iot and users migrating from traditional 2G/3G cellular connections.

     The new u-blox lex-r10 Global offers an ultra-compact 16mm x 16mm LTE Cat 1bis solution that can be used globally for sider-constrained iot applications such as human or pet trackers and wearables. It is the world's smallest single-mode LTE Cat 1bis module with an indoor location and umno certified core.

     Meanwhile, the new Sara-R10 series brings the same features as the LEXI-R10 Global, the company's popular SARA form factor. As 2G and 3G continue to decline around the world, it offers product designers using 2G and 3G SARA modules a direct upgrade to 4G LTE.

     The product offers the option to embed eSIM, and both modules also include an integrated Wi-Fi sniffer. It provides indoor location through the u-blox CellLocate service, which is Wi-Fi and cellular based.

     One of these models is SARA-R10M10, the world's smallest LTE Cat 1bis module with embedded GNSS capable of concurrent communication and tracking. With its convergence of GNSS, Wi-Fi scanning, and global LTE coverage, it is the ideal solution for asset tracking and telematics applications that require continuous connectivity, as well as indoor and outdoor location anywhere in the world. The module is also 50% smaller than the company's previous LTE Cat 1bis portfolio, LENA-R8M10.

     The new R10 module provides product designers with a 4G cellular connectivity solution for iot applications that require moderate data rates, global portability, ultra-low power consumption, and compact size.
