The ST NFC tag is NFC Forum certified for excellent performance and interoperability
STMicroelectronics has announced that its ST25 Near Field Communication (NFC) tag chip has been certified for interoperability by the NFCForum, the NFC industry's leading standardization organization. St's NFCForumType 4Tag IC(ST25TA), Type 5 DynamicTag IC(ST25DV) and Type 5Tag IC(ST25TV) are the industry's first label chips to successfully pass the NFCForumcertification program, which was released on September 20. According to the NFCForum, the certification program provides assurance for the performance and interoperability of NFC devices, ensuring that users get a "consistent performance, attractive application, and interconnecting experience."
The NFC ForumCertification program, previously only available for mobile phones, tablets and other NFC general-purpose devices, now also offers tag and reader conformance testing services to accelerate NFC adoption and reduce development costs. Merchants and consumers alike will benefit from features such as direct access to websites, wireless pairing, fixed-format email or text messages, data logging or firmware updates.
Benoit Rodrigues, General Manager, Memory Products, ST, said: "We are encouraged by the widespread acceptance of NFC technology by smartphone manufacturers and mobile device companies, as well as the NFCForum's interoperability certification, marking the countdown to the adoption of NFC technology by consumers and enterprises. The fast certification of ST25 labels and dynamic labels helps customers accelerate product development cycles, which ultimately improves transaction convenience and efficiency for consumers and merchants."
The ST25TA tag supports NFCType 4, enabling use cases such as NFC tags, NFCtoken(token), NFC smart posters, and NFC Business cards (VCards). The range is equipped with 128-bit password protection, which includes a user-programmable CMOS output option. ST25DVNFC Dynamic Tags and ST25TV tags support NFCType5 and Industrial ISO15693 RFID standard specifications, enabling all NFC tag use cases, in conjunction with remote HFRFID reader infrastructure, and can also be used for logistics transportation and asset tracking. The ST25DV integrates an innovative fast I2C interface and recovers energy from NFC devices that read and write labels.
