The Nuheara earbud Live IQ uses AMS 'active noise reduction technology

AMS Semiconductor Corporation (amsAG, Swiss Stock Exchange :AMS) today announced that Nuheara, a global earbud manufacturer, is using AMS 'micro AS3412 active noise cancellation ics to provide the best hybrid noise reduction and audio amplification capabilities for its new LiveIQ earbuds. Nuheara, the market leader in smart headsets, introduced its new LiveIQ earbuds at CES2018.

     AMS Semiconductor Corporation (amsAG, Swiss Stock Exchange :AMS) today announced that Nuheara, a global earbud manufacturer, is using AMS 'micro AS3412 active noise cancellation ics to provide the best hybrid noise reduction and audio amplification capabilities for its new LiveIQ earbuds. Nuheara, the market leader in smart headsets, introduced its new LiveIQ earbuds at CES2018.

     The innovative Live IQ true wireless earbuds feature advanced active noise cancellation. A single earbud contains a Bluetooth@5 radio wave that connects wirelessly to a smartphone or media player, eliminating the need for a wired connection between the earbuds. Priced under $200 for retail customers, the LiveIQ earbuds feature touch-sensitive controls: noise cancellation can be turned on or off with a single touch, and users can select ambient noise, audio output from the speakers, or mute listening. The earbuds are compatible with Apple's Sini@ and GoogleAssistant voice control systems.

     In designing the Live IQ product, Nuheara aims to create a noise-free, high-fidelity audio experience for earbud users, with sound quality comparable to that of larger wired headphones while providing a compact, wireless in-ear appearance. Not only does the new product need to remain small and lightweight, Nuheara also wants to provide users with long-lasting battery run time between charges.

     For this purpose, Nuheara chose the AS3412 from AMS Semiconductor, which combines excellent audio performance, small size and low power consumption. The AS3412 is a highly integrated active noise reduction chip measuring just 2.2mmx2.2mmx0.4mm and requiring very few external components. In the audible audio range of 20Hz-3kHz, it can achieve noise reduction of up to 30dB. The AS3412's integrated amplifier can drive 2x34mW in 32Q circuits. At an audio output power of 30mW, the AS3412 provides a signal-to-noise ratio of 112.5dB and a total harmonic distortion and noise factor of less than 0.01%.

     The AS3412-based ANC system has a very small footprint, allowing Nuheara to create a stylish, compact design for the Live IQ earbuds, allowing consumers to enjoy longer periods of noise-free listening while wearing them comfortably. It can support 4 hours of talk or 12 hours of continuous music playback on a single charge. The low power consumption of the AS3412 helps Nuheara extend battery operation time, with the device operating at a power supply voltage of 1.6V-1.8V and a standard power consumption of only 8mW.
