Dialog Semiconductor Corporation announced that its DA9061 and DA9062 Power management Integrated circuits (PMIC) are now available in volume. These efficient, cost-optimized PMics are capable of powering a wide range of processor-based devices. Applications include handheld consumer electronics, industrial-grade embedded, smart home and automotive systems.

     Dialog Semiconductor Corporation announced that its DA9061 and DA9062 Power management Integrated circuits (PMIC) are now available in volume. These efficient, cost-optimized PMics are capable of powering a wide range of processor-based devices. Applications include handheld consumer electronics, industrial-grade embedded, smart home and automotive systems.

     The DA9061 and DA9062 PMIC can be powered by a single lithium battery or a 5V power supply to meet the system's minimal requirements for processor cores, memory, peripherals and IO power supplies. Each PMIC can power single - or dual-core system processors, or can be combined with Dialog's polyphase sub-PMIC to seamlessly power complete multi-core systems with core current requirements greater than 20A.

     "Effective and efficient power management has a real impact on the user experience with mobile computing devices and embedded electronics," said Paul Wheeler, vice president of ASSP Mobile Systems. The DA9061 and DA9062 PMIC use energy efficient technology to provide our customers with a highly competitive power management solution that meets a wide range of system requirements."

     The 8.5A DA9062 system PMIC has four powerful switching step-down regulators, two of which can be combined to provide 5A current to the core processor. Another step-down regulator can be used to enable efficient DDR3 memory terminal resistance power supply. These step-down regulators operate at 3 MHz, facilitating the use of small external components. This, combined with the small QFN40 package, ensures maximum power density in the final product.
