Texas Instruments announces its SafeTITM functional safety software development process

     Texas Instruments announced that its SafeTITM Functional safety software development process is certified for the development of ISO 26262 and IEC 61508 compliant software components. TI's development process was evaluated by TUV NORD. TUV NORD is an internationally recognized, qualified and independent quality and safety standards compliance assessment company.

     In addition, the new SafeTI Compatible Support Package (CSP), developed with TI's proven software development process, is now available for HerculesTM microcontroller (MCU) software components. TI developed these CSPS to help users of Hercules software more easily achieve end-system functional security certification.

     SafeTI CSP includes static and dynamic analysis of test results, on-demand code traceability, code coverage, code quality standards, and more. CSP can reduce the workload of user software verification, and provide work products to help users with terminal system functional security certification. TI used the Liverpool Data Research Association (LDRA) software analysis tool suite in the development of these CSPS.

     These CSPS also generate test automation units through LDRAunit and enable users to re-execute the contained unit level test cases in their runtime environment. CSP is available for Hardware Abstraction Layer Code Generator (HALCoGen) device drivers as well as SafeTI diagnostic libraries for Hercules MCUS.

     With the release of the TUV-certified SafeTI Functional Safety Software Development Process, SafeTI CSP, and the certified Hercules TMS57011x/12x and RM46x MCUS, TI demonstrates its commitment to continue to provide comprehensive SafeTI design packages to help users develop the next generation of functional safety applications.
