TE introduces high-speed multiple input/output connectors for portable devices
TE Connectivity introduces the industry's first high-speed Multiple Input/Output product (HSMIO). As a new member of TE's product family, this input/output (I/O) connector solution combines the form factor of Micro USB 2.0 with the data transfer capability of USB 3.1 for slimmer mobile and wearable devices. It can meet the increasing demand of mobile devices for more functions, faster speeds, larger screens, and higher power batteries.
Egbert Stellinga, Product Manager, TE Consumer Electronics, said: "This new multi-I /O connector developed by TE integrates all future connectivity needs into a Micro USB 2.0-sized form factor with the high-speed data transfer capabilities of USB 3.1 (speeds up to 10Gbps). And fast charging capability with a maximum current of 3A.
In addition, the connector has the advantages of small size, compatibility, durability and high EMI performance, and is suitable for thin, battery-powered portable devices such as mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras, GPS devices, media players and wearables. With this product, customers can complete high-speed data transmission, video and power from a single connector."
The interface of the HSMIO connector is only 7.52mm wide, the same as the standard Micro USB 2.0 interface, and is available in a variety of pin configurations, such as 5+4 and 5+8, to meet customer needs for data transfer speed, video and power. The product offers several industry-leading high value-added features, including higher speed performance verification from USB 3.0(5Gbps) to USB 3.1(10Gbps); Efficient power supply, fast charging with 3A battery charger, charging time is only a third of standard USB 2.0, and four optional pins provide additional 2A power; External display connector capabilities including Mobility DisplayPort™ (MyDP) and Mobile Terminal HD Video Standard Interface (MHL®); Backward compatible with standard Micro USB 2.0.
