TDK ultra compact bite type aluminum electrolytic capacitor

TDK Corporation's EPCOS B43652* series bite-type aluminum electrolytic capacitors feature a very compact size and very high ripple current carrying capacity. Designed for a maximum rated voltage of 450 VDC, the RohS-compatible capacitors come in seven models covering a capacitance range from 270 µF to 820 µF.

A typical application of these capacitors with high CV products is the DC link circuit of the on-board charger in the xEV. Capacitance values from 270 µF to 560 µF are provided in different sizes, resulting in increased design flexibility. Compact sizes range from 25 mm x 40 mm to 35 mm x 55 mm (D x H), depending on capacitance value.

The devices comply with the AEC-Q200 standard and A special feature is their ability to deliver ultra-high ripple current of 11.28 A at 100 Hz and +85°C. This is achieved through a recent design that enhances the bottom of the barrel to improve active cooling. In conventional capacitors, the valve is located at the bottom of the barrel, but in the latest design, it is located on the side. This improvement and active cooling capability resulted in an 85% increase in ripple current capacity.
