TDK introduces the highly reliable CFast Card CAS1B series with serial ATA 6Gbps support

     TDK will start selling the CAS1B series of industrial SSDS in the shape of Cfast cards with GBDriver GS1, a NAND flash memory control IC that supports serial ATA 6Gbps, starting in January 2016. In recent years, in terms of industrial use, the demand for high-capacity and robust card memory has begun to increase in terms of the high capacity of OS and the ease of use and robustness. Based on these requirements, while ensuring reliability for industrial use, the CFast card has been introduced to achieve approximately 3.2 times the high-speed read and 1.9 times the high-speed write performance compared to the previous CAG3B series.

     In industrial use, MLC NAND flash is used for high capacity, but in addition to using benchmarking software to compare the speed of data forwarding, the reliability of data retention and reading becomes very important. To this end, in addition to the recovery function and refresh function installed from the existing GBDriver series, the GBDriver power off data protection algorithm and the new internal power backup circuit are also standard configuration, so that stable data reliability can be achieved when using MLC.

     In addition, pSLC flash memory carrier products are included in the standard product lineup. Durability is stronger than MLC, and the cost per unit capacity is lower than SLC, striking a good balance between reliability and cost.

     Data security protection has also been enhanced, with AES*1128/256bit encryption and TDK original authentication installed in addition to ATA's security features. Provides strong data security for tampering and leaking of data recorded on NAND flash memory.
