TDK introduces compact high current chokes

     TDK Corporation introduces the new B82559A*A033 series shielding EPCOS ERU33 high current chokes. The new family of components are through-hole mounted with ultra-high saturation currents ranging from 32 A to 83 A at 100 °C. They are available in six models ranging from 3.2 μH to 10 μH with DC resistances as low as 0.85 mΩ or 1.2 mΩ, depending on the model.

     The choke is a very compact 33 x 33 x 15 mm with flat wire winding. By thermal connection between the flat wire winding and the magnetic core, a large area of ferrite surface can be coupled to the heat sink, thus greatly improving the heat dissipation performance. In addition to standard models, we can also provide other customized models with inductance values according to customer requirements.

     The new series of inductors are RoHs-compliant and meet the AEC-Q200 REV D standard, and are designed to operate at temperatures ranging from -40°C to +150°C. Typical automotive applications are step-up chokes for DC-DC converters (such as different-mode chokes in 48V on-board power supplies or input filters for on-board chargers), and are widely used in a variety of industrial electronic devices, such as storage and output chokes in high-current and PoL power supplies.
