TDK introduces SMT current transformer for automotive electronics

     TDK Corporation has released two new EPCOS SMT current transformers for automotive electronics. One of them (B78417A2185A003) is based on the EP7 ferrite core and measures only 10.6 mm x 12.2 mm x 11 mm and is specifically designed to measure pulse currents up to 20 A. The DC resistance on the primary winding side is 1.3mΩ and on the secondary side is 3.7Ω. The other (B78417A2185A003) is based on A ferrite core containing EP10 with dimensions of 12.8 mm x 13.6 mm x 14.4 mm and can measure pulse currents up to 30 A. The DC resistance of the primary side is 0.5 mΩ, and the secondary side is 2.7 Ω.

     Both transformers have a turn ratio of 1:100 and are suitable for a wide temperature range of -40 to +150 ° C. The test voltage on both the primary and secondary sides is 2800 V DC, and the creepage distance and spatial distance meet the base insulation requirements specified in IEC 60664. Both new transformers meet AEC-Q200 quality certification requirements.

     The SMT current transformer is designed for emerging 48-V automotive powertrains as well as all xEV applications, and its components can be used to measure the current of electronic devices.
