Sandisk introduces a new generation of PCIe application accelerators
Sandisk Corporation announced the launch of a new generation of Fusion ioMemoryTMPCIe application accelerators to significantly improve performance while helping drive data center consolidation and achieve a lower total cost of ownership. The new Fusion ioMemory PCIe application accelerator, consisting of Sandi NAND flash and Virtual Storage Layer (VSL) data access acceleration software, offers up to four times better value for money while offering a 61% price reduction compared to the previous generation Fusion ioDrive 2.

According to a recent Gartner report, "Gartner is seeing a greater focus on PCIe technologies than the surge in demand for server virtualization, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), in-memory computing applications, and real-time analytics." More than 7,000 customers have deployed more than 250,000 Fusion ioMemory PCIe application accelerators, These include DataLogix, Rackspace's ObjectRocket, Pandora, Santa Monica City College, ServiceNow, TransUnion, and the University of St Michigan and the University of Victoria have made Fusion ioMemory application accelerators a mature and secure choice for building business-critical data centers.
The Fusion ioMemory portfolio is available in a variety of form factor sizes, from PCIe cards to Mezzanine storage for HP and Cisco blade servers. Each card is optimized for mixed-use or read-intensive workloads and can be used with SanDisk's new next-generation FlashSoft caching software to reduce I/O latency in VMware vSphere, Windows Server, and Linux environments. The Fusion ioMemory PCIe card solves one of the most challenging computing challenges in the data center: reducing the time required to extract data from traditional hard-disk based storage systems and optimizing the infrastructure. By simplifying data access and combining Microsoft SQL, Oracle, and MySQL databases with new database technologies such as Spark, Redis, and MongoDB, Fusion ioMemory cards improve performance and therefore customer satisfaction. For example, with Fusion ioMemory, customers can speed up search or e-commerce applications or reduce the time to run database reports by more than seven times .
