STMicroelectronics offers VIPERGAN65 converters with E Mode GaN HEMTs

STMicroelectronics VIPERGAN65 is a high voltage converter with an advanced PWM controller and 650 V GaN power transistor embedded, designed for single-switch flyback converters. It comes in the smallest QFN 5x6 package in its class and is capable of managing up to 65 W of power.

The small size device is combined with the high performance and high switching frequency of GaN power devices to achieve a highly integrated design with the highest attainable power density, and its end product, the USB-PD charger, is faster, lighter, smaller, and easy to carry. In line with the global energy conservation trend, VIPERGAN65's low standby power consumption makes a direct contribution to reducing energy consumption and fits in with the ambitious plan to achieve net zero emissions in the coming decades.

A quasi-resonant (QR) operation with dynamic blanking time features and bottom-bottom synchronization reduces switching losses and maximizes overall efficiency under any input line and load conditions. Advanced power management with low static current helps achieve low standby power consumption. Feedforward compensation minimizes the input peak power variation over the entire input voltage range. The device supports secondary side regulation (SSR) flyback configurations with standard optical couplers
