Rugged non-isolated DC-DC converters for the RGB series rated from 400 to 750W
TDK Corporation has announced the launch of the RGB Series, a series of rugged non-isolated DC-DC converters manufactured by TDK-Lambda with power ratings ranging from 400W to 750W. These buck converters have a wide input voltage range of 9 to 18V, 18 to 32V, or 18 to 60V. They can provide adjustable output voltages from 0.8 to 8V or 3.3 to 24V.
The output current can reach 60A, but this depends on the power level. The series is designed for use in demanding environments such as medical environments, autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs), industrial mobile robots (IMRs), drones, Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) devices, industrial applications, test and measurement equipment, and battery powered devices.
With an efficiency of up to 98.5%, the device produces a significant amount of usable power even under challenging thermal conditions ranging from -40°C to +115°C. In addition, it helps to extend battery life. The converter has 1/16 brick pins and measures 38.1 x 49.5 x 13.0 mm (WxLxH). They are packaged according to the MIL-STD-810G standard to ensure shock and vibration resistance. The pentagonal aluminum housing minimizes electromagnetic interference (EMI) and allows conduction cooling to the cold plate, enabling fanless operation.
Basic feature models include output voltage adjustment pins, negative logic remote on-off, telemetry, input undervoltage, overcurrent, and thermal protection. An arbitrarily adjustable current limit is also provided to reduce strain on input sources, converters and loads under overload conditions.
All versions are equipped with CE and UKCA certifications indicating compliance with low voltage and RoHS directives. In addition, they are designed to comply with IEC/UL/CSA/EN 62368-1 safety standards. The assessment committee can conduct the examination quickly and easily.
The main uses for these DC-DC converters are medical devices, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), industrial mobile robots (IMRs), drones, Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products, industrial machinery, test and measurement equipment, and battery-powered devices.
