Qualcomm introduces 802.11ac Wi-Fi and advanced network processing solutions with MU-MIMO support
Qualcomm Incorporated announced that its subsidiary, Qualcomm Innovations, will ease data congestion in enterprise networks with a feature-rich, high-performance enterprise connectivity platform. In order to cope with the rapid increase of terminals and large amounts of data traffic in enterprise networks, Qualcomm has introduced corresponding solutions. The solution not only enables sophisticated access points (aps) to utilize state-of-the-art Wi-Fi® connectivity, but also improves network security, capacity, and performance while maintaining the network within the prescribed Power over Ethernet (PoE) range. The new reference design includes the efficient and powerful Qualcomm Internet Processor (IPQ) and the innovative capabilities of the Qualcomm VIVE 11ac solution that supports MU-MIMO technology, known as Qualcomm MU | EFX.
Qualcomm's enterprise-class connectivity platform is supported by leading Oems. Qualcomm's second generation VIVE solution, which supports Qualcomm MU | EFX technology, increases Wi-Fi network speeds by up to three times - enabling a single access point to serve hundreds of endpoints, delivering performance that was difficult to match with previous 11ac products. As Qualcomm's dual-band, four-stream 11ac series solution, the QCA999x takes advantage of new MU-MIMO capabilities to maximize the performance of both old and new terminals in the network.
The VIVE solution also supports advanced enterprise capabilities such as seamless movement with Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Passpoint, accurate indoor location capabilities, and high-definition spectrum analysis. The 4.9GHz and 5/10 MHz bandwidth channels further differentiate Qualcomm's enterprise platform. In addition, Qualcomm's efficiency in access point deployment creates one of the highest performance and lowest power network solutions on the market, helping to reduce overall platform operating costs. The QCA999x also has the security of high-end Wi-Fi and supports FIPS Level 2 certification.
Today's high-performance networks require advanced processing power, and the Qualcomm Tron Enterprise platform also includes a powerful IPQ806x processor. Ipq-based enterprise access points enjoy the low-power feature that maximizes the performance of Qualcomm MU | EFX-enabled 11ac and fits the PoE budget - meaning these access points are capable of using standard Ethernet cables. IPQ's dual-core 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Krait CPU enables processors to reduce power consumption through dynamic voltage and frequency regulation, which automatically adjusts the CPU frequency and associated voltage based on the workload. In addition, higher efficiency can reduce the heat generated by network equipment, enabling smaller, more cost-effective products that avoid the use of fans and heat sinks.
