Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 compliant 100 watt USB-C PD PPS charger

     Salom, a pioneer in highly reliable, high-performance gallium nitride (GaN) power conversion products, and global supplier Transphorm power solution manufacturer, have teamed up to bring to market a 100 watt gallium nitride power adapter that meets the Quick Charge 5 standard

     The new USB-C powered (USB-C PD) charger will be equipped with Quick Charge 5 technology, which enables a smartphone to charge from 0% to 50% in five minutes. * This product is a universal adapter that provides both conventional and 3.0 USB-C Programmable Power supply (PPS) mode, enabling the charger to easily provide a smooth moving range of voltages (between 3.3V and 21V), rather than stepping voltage output in the traditional mode.

     With Qualcomm's assistance, Transphorm developed the adapter specifications and designed a fully functional product from universal input to USB-C PD/PPS output. Transphorm's gallium nitride materials can be used in traditional AC-DC boost PFCS and DC-DC quasi-resonant flyback (QRF) topologies. Salom then took care of adopting the system, fine-tuning it, developing it peripherally and doing all the necessary certifications, such as Quick Charge 5, conduction/radiative emission, contact temperature and so on.
