Powerbox's rugged power modules are used in automotive industry applications in extremely harsh environments

     Powerbox introduces a 400W DC/DC converter for automotive industry applications in extremely harsh environments. Designed for free air convection cooling, the ENA400-M is encapsulated in an aluminum housing with a built-in radiator and pot-sealed with thermally conductive polyurethane for improved heat dissipation. IP67 compliant with 95% efficiency, DC/DC converters can operate with free air convection at ambient temperatures from -40 to +50 degrees Celsius. Suitable for 24V and 48V industrial bus voltages, the converters comply with ISO7637-2 and EN12895 standards. The ENA400-M's high efficiency and highly optimized thermal design help extend service life in harsh environments.

     Industrial automotive applications such as vehicles in mining trucks, timber and construction industries, agricultural machinery, trucks and general outdoor infrastructure require very robust DC/DC power supplies that allow them to operate perfectly even in wet and dusty conditions of severe vibration, and often with little or no ventilation. These conditions require the optimization of existing power conversion technologies to reduce power dissipation, as well as the optimization of mechanical and thermal design to ensure long life in such demanding conditions and applications.

     The ENA400-M series includes two industrial bus voltages, 24V(18 to 32V) and 48V(35 to 65V). Products include undervoltage, overvoltage and reverse voltage protection. In standby mode, the input current is less than 1 mA and the no-load current is less than 30 mA, which can save battery power.

     Available in two standard output voltages, 12.5V(32A) and 24.5V(16A), the output power is 400W. The output is protected from short circuits by constant current limiting circuits, so that the product is always ready when the high output load returns to normal. This unique feature guarantees that the user will not shut down when using the DC/DC converter, even if there are errors or surges during startup, and that the power supply can quickly return to normal operation once the fault is eliminated or dropped.

     Based on heat loss and low ESR MOSFET technology, ENA400-M has a typical efficiency of 95%. By using a manufacturing practice called "back flip assembly," the lost power is conducted directly from the component to the top of the housing, thereby increasing cooling capacity.

     Powerbox's ENA400-M DC/DC converter family features 500VDC input to output, and current isolation from input/output to housing. All products comply with the immunity standards EN61000(relevant section), EN55022B(conduction and radiation) and a surge test level of 2kV.

     Industrial automation applications often encounter water, diesel fumes or dirt, and it is important that DC/DC converters are not affected by this aggressive environment. In order to prevent the risk of corrosion or water penetration, the aluminum housing is protected by a coating and sealed with polyurethane resin, guaranteeing that the product meets the protection Class 67(IP67 - dust-proof, water-resistant impregnation effect, water depth between 15 cm and 1 m). The product can maintain 100% relative humidity - non-condensing.

     In order to cope with the severe vibrations that can be encountered in harsh environmental conditions, the ENA400-M performs and passes tests with a vibration level of 5-50 HZ and an acceleration of +/- 7.35m/s2 per axis.

     The ENA400-M measures 150 x 93 x 31 mm (5.12 x 3.78 x 1.22 inches) and weighs 850 grams. For ease of installation, the product is pre-drilled at each corner, the input and output connections are achieved by a 0.5m fixed lead, and an ON/off loop cable is provided for remote control (by default, the DC/DC converter is ON, the open loop will be closed). The product complies with RoHS II and REACH standards.
