Power Integrations introduces the LYTSwitch-1 LED driver IC

     Power Integrations, the world leader in high efficiency, high reliability LED driver ics, introduces the LYTSwitch™-1 single-stage non-isolated step-down LED driver IC product line. The small size of the IC enables the design of LED bulbs and tubes with high constant current accuracy, and the number of components used is very small. Innovative driver algorithms guarantee high power factor (PF) and low total harmonic distortion (THD) while maintaining extremely high efficiency.

     The LYTSwitch-1 IC comes in a compact SO-8 package with an efficiency of more than 93%, PF greater than 0.9, and THD as low as 15%. The device can be used in low-side step-down topologies to reduce EMI, or in high-side step-down topologies to simplify designs. This universal input (100-308 VAC) IC delivers up to 22 W of output power without heat sinks and incorporates a 725 V MOSFETs for high reliability. Because the device uses a unique peak current control algorithm, designers can directly use commercially available small inductors. The new device meets all applicable international standards, including DOE 6 (External Power Supply), CEC Standards 20 and 24, ENERGY STAR® SSL, EN61000-3-2 (C) and relevant Chinese and Indian standards.
