PI introduces new 5A Peak Current Gate [pole driver] to reduce system complexity and cost

     PowerIntegrations introduces the SID1102K, the newest member of the SCALE iDriverTMIC family - a single-channel isolated IGBT and MOSFET gate driver in a wide-body eSOP package. The new device has a 5A peak drive current and can drive a 300A switching device without using a push stage. An external push stage can be used to increase the gate current to 60A peak in a cost-effective manner. The device can provide n-channel drives for both down-tube and up-tube push-stage MOSFET switches, thereby reducing system cost, reducing switching losses and increasing output power.

     Enhanced insulation is provided by Power Integrations' innovative solid insulation FluxLinkTM technology, which eliminates the need for an optocoupler and further enhances reliability and stability. SCALE-iDriver technology simplifies design and manufacturing by reducing BOM material count; A complete drive can be designed using a single SID1102KIC and only eight peripheral components. The device provides system-level protection features including undervoltage protection, rail-to-rail stable output voltage (single power supply), high common-mode transient immunity, and 9.4mm creepage distance and electrical clearance.
