Onsemi's three-phase BLDC motor controller

Onsemi's ECS640A is a three-phase BLDC motor controller, Integrated with an ultra-low power optimized Arm Cortex-M0+ microcontroller, three sensing amplifiers and a reference amplifier (NCS20034), three cathode-loaded diodes and a high voltage grid driver designed for high voltage and high speed work, Capable of driving MOSFETs and IGBTs up to 600 V (FAN73896). Six grid driver outputs provide 350 mA/650 mA (typical values) grid feed/pull current for external power equipment. The device includes a Hall sensor input to support sensorless or sensorless operation. Three independent low-side source pins support single or multiple shunt measurements.

Protection features include undervoltage locking and inverter overcurrent tripping with automatic fault clearing. Provide an open and break fault signal to indicate that a fault has occurred. Direct torque and flux Control (DTFC) firmware is available for optimal motor performance on the Arm Cortex-M0+ platform.

The small base surface and integration make the device ideal for discrete power devices to maximize scalability across platforms and minimize area requirements as power levels expand.
