ON Semiconductor showcases its advanced technologies in the Internet of Things

     ON Semiconductor will demonstrate the new NB3H63143G small size, low power, low cost one-time programmable (OTP) clock generator, a member of the OmniClock family of devices, which supports any output frequency from 8 kHz to 200 MHz and provides a rich feature set and maximum operational flexibility. The OmniClock generator has three single-ended clock outputs (LVCMOS/LVTTL), which can be combined into a single differential output (LVPECL, LVDS, HCSL/CML), allowing designers to replace multiple crystals and/or oscillators, reducing overall system costs. The device is available in a 3x3mm QFN 16 package that integrates three separate output enable (OE) pins as well as three separate output voltage (VDDO) pins, with a smaller 2x2mm DFN 8 package for applications where board space is minimal.

     Prescott Sakai, Director of ON Semiconductor's Timing Products Business Unit, said: "The OmniClock family offers the most functionality and flexibility of any programmable clock device on the market today. They enable customers to meet the low power requirements of their systems while greatly simplifying board design and overall system bill of materials."

     During Embedded World, the company will demonstrate that the NB3H63143G OmniClock Generator delivers a 19.2 MHz clock to the AR1820HS 18 megapixel image sensor, a 48 MHz clock to the AP1302 image coprocessor, and a second to the AR1820HS. And a 19.2 MHz clock to a USB controller. Another demonstration will show how the OmniClock generator can change the output frequency and spread spectrum modulation on the output frequency in real time.

     The MatrixCam Video Development Kit (VDK), launched to promote the use of more video in iot systems, will also be on display. Compact, low-power, 1080p camera solutions stream video over Wi-Fi or Ethernet connections. It supports intelligent operation, wake-up on via Bluetooth Low Power (BLE) or motion detection via the built-in PIR sensor.

     Supporting connectivity is critical for next-generation applications such as the Internet of Things, and ON Semiconductor will also be showcasing the latest wireless devices. The NCS36510 is a highly integrated system-on-chip (SoC) that enables secure wireless networks with minimal external components. It incorporates a 2.4GHz IEEE 802.15.4-2006 compliant transceiver, a 32-bit ARM® Cortex-M3 microprocessor, a true random number generator, and RAM and Flash memory resources. The AX5043 narrowband, ultra-low-power RF transceiver supports frequency shift keying (FSK) and amplitude shift keying (ASK) modulation. It provides an output power of 16 dB milliwatts (DBM) and sensitivity of -136 dBm at FSK of 100 bits per second (bps).

     Other demonstrations will include smart passive sensors, Sigfox capabilities, brushless DC motor control, and touch-level sensing. Ryan Cameron, vice president of Industrial and Timing Products at On Semiconductor, said: "The Internet of Things has many possibilities that the industry is only beginning to fully explore so far. We provide a wealth of hardware to enable iot, including microcontrollers, RF transceivers, camera systems and clock generators, enabling design engineers to take their iot system ideas from the concept stage to reality."
