New phase and amplitude stable flexible cable assembly

     Samtec Corporation has announced full production of its LL043 series of nitro wave high-performance microwave cable assemblies. Nitrowave is the company's new line of flexible, low-loss microwave coaxial cables that demonstrate excellent amplitude and phase stability in test and measurement as well as 5G data communications, defense, aerospace, and computer/semiconductor applications. Its distinctive orange color is easily recognizable and supported by Samtec Sudden Service, which includes parts availability, fast delivery, and people and tools to help streamline the design process.

     The optimized cable structure makes phase and amplitude stability with flexure possible. The inclusion of the intermediate layer allows for consistent electrical performance throughout the lifetime of the cable, while the low-density PTFE dielectric material ensures mechanical robustness. The flexural life test is 400,000 times (unconstrained flexure) and the torque life test is 1 million times (+/-90°).

     The series is optimized for performance to 43.5GHz with a maximum VSWR of 1.4:1. During product development to support advanced applications and spectrum allocation, frequency capabilities were specifically designed to exceed traditional industry targets to achieve a 30% increase in insertion loss performance for next-generation frequencies. Due to the consistent contact resistance between layers, the most advanced shielding technology enables a minimum shielding efficiency of 100dB for electromagnetic interference (according to IEC 61000-4-21 specification).

     Connector end options include SMA plug or SMA partition jack (26.5GHz) or 2.92mm and 2.4mm plug (43.5GHz). The LL043 is available in standard assembly lengths of 305mm (12 "), 610 mm (24 ") and 1000mm (39.37 ").
