New high-performance thermal pads protect electric vehicle battery packs
Parker Hannifin Corporation's Chemical Division today announced the new thermal gap filling PAD THERM-A-GAP PAD 30, a high-performance electric vehicle battery pack solution that seamlessly integrates into the automotive industry's typical robotic assembly process.
Effective thermal management is a top priority for EV manufacturers and their supply chain partners. Choosing the best TIM for the battery ECU is critical because electric vehicle battery packs generate high levels of heat and their performance is directly related to the internal temperature.
In the automotive manufacturing industry, where robots are becoming more prevalent, cleanliness in the assembly process is another key factor. They negate the need for the operator to touch the component and inadvertently introduce foreign body fragments. Therefore, the selection criteria for any hot pad solution must include performance and automation compatibility to prevent this critical process from going wrong.
These thermal gap filling pads for electric vehicle battery pack applications offer superior performance and consistency at a competitive price. During assembly, the liner can be seen by vision sensors, allowing for effective quality control and fast production. These pads can be effortlessly released from the liner for picking up and placing robots, making them ideal for high-volume applications, and come in specially designed packaging to ensure safe transport.
The filling pad offers a soft (34 Shore 00) solution with 3.2W/m-K thermal conductivity and extremely low exhaust. It ensures an effective thermal interface between heat sinks and electronic devices with uneven surfaces, air gaps and rough surface textures.
The electrical properties of the rohs compliant hot gap filling pad include :5.9kVac/mm dielectric strength (ASTM D149 test method); 1013 ohm volume resistivity (ASTM D257); 7.7 Dielectric constant at 1,000 KHz (ASTM D150); The dissipation coefficient at 1,000kHz is 0.001 (Chomerics CHO-TM-TP13).
