New high-end super starlight large target plane 8MP image sensor

     In recent years, with the large-scale commercial application of 4K ultra HD technology, the security industry has ushered in a new growth point of its development. According to TSR 2022 report, 8MP(4K) resolution CIS has a significant growth momentum in recent years, and it is expected that 8MP shipments in the global security CIS market will reach 50 million in 2026. In addition, there are many complex scene requirements to be considered in the landing application of the technology, all of which promote the further iteration and upgrade of security CIS imaging performance.

     SmartSens, a supplier of advanced CMOS image sensors, officially launched the new product of Star Light (SL) Series, super starlight series large target 8MP image sensor for high-end intelligent security applications -- SC880SL. The new product is based on the full-performance upgrade SmartClarity®-2 technology and innovative SFCPixel® patented technology. The BSI process combined with large target surface design greatly improves the product sensitivity.

     At the same time, the SC880SL is equipped with the advanced near-infrared sensitivity NIR+ technology of Stever, which can achieve excellent night vision imaging performance even in ultra-low light environment. In addition, the high temperature imaging performance of the product has also been greatly improved under the support of the innovative technology of Stever and the advantages of ultra-low noise peripheral reading circuit, so as to enable 4K high-end intelligent security applications with excellent imaging quality.

     In order to comply with the application requirements of security monitoring all weather and all time, night vision imaging performance has become one of the hottest technical breakthrough points in the security circle. Based on the BSI process, the newly launched SC880SL adopts 1/1.2" large target surface design, which has a larger sensitive area per pixel and can present higher brightness and clearer details in the dark light environment. According to the test, SNR1s of SC880SL can be as low as 0.18lux, which can achieve dark light imaging performance comparable to that of Stack process image sensor.

     In addition, relying on the technology of Stieway SmartClarity®-2 and innovative SFCPixel® patented technology, SC880SL boasts excellent high-performance imaging performance. Compared with the industry's Stack process image sensor, SC880SL's full well electron is significantly increased by 33%, and the maximum signal-to-noise ratio is increased by 2dB. It can enable high-end security intelligent vision applications with excellent dark imaging performance.
