Molex's EXTreme Guardian Power connector system is now available in two - to six-circuit harness assembly versions
Molex Corporation has announced the addition of 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 circuit harness connector assemblies to the EXTreme Guardian Power Connector system. These new components include non-sheathing self-locking cable receptacle housings, terminal positioning assembly hooks (TPA), and self-locking vertical and right-angle plugs, providing additional options for power manufacturing to meet the design requirements for high power density in the computing and communications markets. The system delivers power of 80.0A per blade (185.0A per inch) with a very small form factor, while providing electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency (RFI) shielding.
Jeff Torres, global Product Manager at Molex, said: "The growing demand for computing power is putting manufacturers under increasing pressure to deliver higher power. At the same time, the requirement for reliable, highly redundant power supplies requires that sub-components take up less and less physical space. "The EXTreme Guardian solution is designed to meet these challenges by meeting the high power requirements of today's networking and data communications devices, while achieving a very small 11.00mm midline pitch, which can significantly reduce the size of the printed circuit board compared to traditional power supplies."
The EXTreme Guardian solution is UL and CSA certified to handle voltages up to 600V, supporting high voltages while possible voltage drops and I2R (irreversible dissipated Power) losses can be kept to a minimum. The product features recessed, recessed terminals and offers a four-layer plug (FMLB) function that enables heat exchange of the power unit and reduces network downtime. Printed circuit board connectors use positioning hooks for precise through-hole positioning of connectors on the circuit board, and additional manufacturing solutions including through-hole welding and press fit are available. The harness crimp terminals accept 10, 8, 12/12, or 6 AWG wires, minimize terminal exit problems with the Terminal Positioning Assembly (TPA) option, and the integral latch securely holds the cable from accidental disconnection.
