Molex introduces the Nano-Pitch I/O 80 circuit interconnect system with ultra-high port density (number of high-speed differential channels) and speed (25 Gbps per channel) in the smallest available package. The concept of multi-protocol pin allocation enables compatibility with all existing SAS, SATA, and PCIe protocols and enhances signal integrity in an ultra-compact size.

     Molex introduces the Nano-Pitch I/O 80 circuit interconnect system with ultra-high port density (number of high-speed differential channels) and speed (25 Gbps per channel) in the smallest available package. The concept of multi-protocol pin allocation enables compatibility with all existing SAS, SATA, and PCIe protocols and enhances signal integrity in an ultra-compact size. The connector is ideal for SAS and PCI Express applications including storage to controller, server to server, server to switch, switch to switch, and mobile/enterprise connections.

     "With industry-leading port density, multi-protocol application support, and enhanced signal integrity, the Nano-Pitch I/O 80 circuit interconnect system is redefining PCIe and SAS solutions for the storage industry," said Joe Dambach, product manager at Molex.

     The system's flexible pin allocation concept (continuous ground-signal-signal-ground) is optimized for high-speed applications to maximize the number of high-speed channels within the length provided. Eight channels (80 circuits) are available according to industry standards.

     With a very small form factor (5 mm x 23 mm x 9 mm) and a connector to cable insertion assembly height of only 12 mm, the system is suitable for right-angle cable outlets, thus serving mobile devices through enterprise applications. The staggered, highly reliable, constant two-row contact configuration enables hot swapping (adding components without shutting down the system). In addition, the connector provides optimal path planning for high-speed tracking connections while reducing the need for printed circuit board space occupancy.

     Storage system applications for Nano-Pitch I/O 80 circuit interconnect systems include data center and enterprise storage systems, storage racks, JBODs, storage controllers, HBA servers, and RAIDS. Telecommunications/networking applications for connectors include hubs, servers, switches, and routers.
