Microsemi Corporation debuts Industrial grade Power over Ethernet midspan

     Microsemi Corporation, a leading provider of differentiated semiconductor technology solutions in terms of power, safety, reliability and performance, announced the availability of PD-9001GI and PD-9501GI Power over Ethernet (PoE) mid-span syringes. Expand its industry-leading PoE products into industrial and outdoor applications. The PD-9001GI and PD-9501GI Industrial PoE span applications such as physical security, WLAN infrastructure, cellular infrastructure, and industrial automation.

     According to market research firm Technavio, the number of industrial Ethernet nodes deployed around the world is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.52% between 2014 and 2019.      Targeted applications for Microsemi's new devices include industrial and outdoor Internet Protocol (IP) cameras, Wi-Fi access points (aps), cellular small units, wireless backrange, access control devices including human machine interfaces (Hmis), motors, and industrial sensors. The emerging adoption of IP cameras in industrial manufacturing processes, which maximizes video transmission bandwidth while minimizing deployment costs and the number of cabling required, is helping to drive the growth of PoE and Gigabit Ethernet in factory automation.

     The PD-9001GI and PD-9501GI comply with IEEE 802.3-2012 Article 33 "Power over Ethernet" for reliable operation and easy plug and play through intelligent device management. These POEs reduce the difficulty of deploying industrial or outdoor equipment over Ethernet while ensuring low deployment costs. Both systems are certified for industrial and outdoor applications, providing maximum protection to ensure safe and reliable performance. In outdoor deployments, the PD-9501GI and PD-9001GI are deployed in housings that complement non-poe switches.
