Microchip introduces a low-cost, renewable monthly license for the award-winning MPLAB XC series of Professional compilers
Microchip Technology, a leading global provider of integrated microcontroller, mixed-signal, emulator and flash memory proprietary solutions, announced the launch of a flexible, low-cost, renewable monthly license for its award-winning MPLAB XC Series C compiler Professional. The MPLAB XC8, XC16, and XC32 compilers reduce complexity, provide optimal execution speed and code size for all over 1,400 PIC MCU and dsPIC Digital Signal Controllers (DSC), and are available in three optimization levels - free, Standard, and PRO.
With Microchip's monthly subscription model for professional licenses, 8, 16, and 32-bit MCU designers can take advantage of the most features and optimal code optimizations throughout the design cycle, only when they are needed. Subscribers can obtain updated versions of the MPLAB XC compiler types they have ordered even if they are not eligible for a valid Microchip MPLAB XC High Priority Access (HPA) maintenance service. Unlike most software subscriptions, this license is not based on a cloud service, making it easier for designers to use the compiler offline.
Derek Carlson, vice president of Development Tools at Microchip, said: "With the Professional optimizations in Microchip's MPLAB XC compiler, embedded system designers can achieve more optimized code sizes and faster program execution. Now, with the most flexible compiler licensing options in the industry, customers also have the freedom to take advantage of professional-grade compilation capabilities on demand."
The MPLAB XC family of compilers supports Linux, Mac OS, and Windows operating systems, so designers can choose their preferred platform for embedded development. In addition, MPLAB XC is part of Microchip's integrated toolchain of compatible compilers and debuggers/programmers, which operate seamlessly in the cross-platform universal open source MPLAB X integrated development environment, reducing the learning curve and tool investment costs. The MPLAB XC family of compilers is also compatible with older versions of the MPLAB IDE.
