Micray Semiconductor Corporation announced the MIC7400/MIC7401, a new family of highly integrated configurable power management integrated circuit (PMIC) solutions with six independent DC/DC regulators. The product family offers one of the highest power density solutions in the industry in a small 4.5mm x 4.5mm FQFN package with a total product size of 12mm x 8mm x 1mm.

     Micray Semiconductor Corporation announced the MIC7400/MIC7401, a new family of highly integrated configurable power management integrated circuit (PMIC) solutions with six independent DC/DC regulators. The product family offers one of the highest power density solutions in the industry in a small 4.5mm x 4.5mm FQFN package with a total product size of 12mm x 8mm x 1mm. The MIC7400/MIC7401 combines a total of five separate 3A synchronous buck converters, a separate 200mA asynchronous boost converter, and a large number of programmable features to provide a highly flexible power solution. Including smart home and Internet of Things (IoT) devices, this product is designed for SSDS and the growing number of applications where processors and SOCs are deployed. 

     Brian Hedayati, vice president of marketing for High Performance linear Power Solutions at Mai Rui, said: "As end product design requirements change throughout product development, power requirements are constantly adjusted, and product designers are always under tremendous pressure to reduce board space. Mairui's configurable PMIC provides a flexible solution that allows for immediate adjustment as requirements change, reducing design cycle time and time to market. The MIC7400/MIC7401 power supply architecture enables designers to improve system efficiency across a range of power modes."

     Both devices can be configured via an I2C interface and internal EEPROM. These highly configurable power management devices provide dynamic output voltage scaling, normal and standby modes, and power-on power ordering and latency. The MIC7400/MIC7401 uses only 200µA of static current in normal mode, and supports low-power standby mode, allowing flexibility to reduce static current by lowering the output voltage or turning off all individual outputs completely. This feature further optimizes efficiency during sleep/hibernation, extending service life in sensitive, low-power applications. In addition to excellent fast transient response and light load performance, the combination of power density and functional flexibility for space-constrained applications results in efficiency-optimized high-density solutions while also reducing design cycle time.

     The device is equipped with simple and intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) tools to aid configuration and monitoring. The MIC7400/MIC7401 has an operating input voltage range of 2.4V to 5.5V and provides output voltages of 0.8V to 3.3V for step-down regulators with linear/load and temperature output accuracy of 1.5%. The integrated boost regulator adjusts output voltages ranging from 7V to 14V. Other configurable features, including threshold and delay for integrated power-on reset circuits, include soft start rise/fall time, current limit, active output discharge, and more. The MIC7400 and MIC7401 have a specified operating junction temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
