Maxim Ultra-low-power, high-performance microcontrollers simplify wearable device design
Maxim introduces the MAX32630 and MAX32631 microcontrollers based on the ARM® Cortex®-M4F kernel to help designers easily develop high-performance fitness and medical wearables. With the rapid growth of personal fitness and medical wearable applications, the market has also placed complex new requirements on the electronic components inside the devices. These devices must be small in size while providing advanced functionality, processing performance, and the best integrated peripherals.
In addition, the device must simultaneously achieve high precision, low noise, and extremely low power consumption in a variety of operating modes, ensuring sufficient operating time on a single charge. Maxim's new MAX32630 and MAX32631 microcontrollers are rich and powerful, making it easy to solve these challenges.
The advanced power management features of the MAX32630 and MAX32631 maximize operating time and ensure the lowest energy consumption in operating (127uW/MHz), DMA (32uW/MHz) and sleep Hold (3.5uW) modes. The MAX32630 and MAX32631 microcontrollers provide sufficient onboard programs (2MB flash memory), data storage (512KB SRAM), and cache (8KB) to help run third-party applications and record sensor data to improve the overall user experience.
Interfaces include SPI, SPI XIP, UART, I2C, 1-Wire, and USB ports. Peripheral features include six 32-bit timers, a clock, 66 universal I/O pins, a pulse train engine, and a 10-bit A/D converter (7.8ksps). In addition, the MAX32631 adds a Trust Protection Unit (TPU) to support advanced hardware encryption and security authentication capabilities, providing customers with a complete security toolbox to protect IP, algorithms and user data.
The MAX32630 and the secure version MAX32631 expand Maxim's line of scalable memory architecture microcontrollers for wearable devices. These include the MAX32620 and the secure MAX32621 (2MB flash memory and 256KB SRAM), the MAX32625 and the secure MAX32626 (512KB flash memory and 160KB SRAM). All products have an operating temperature range of -20⁰C to +85⁰C.
