Marvell and Cree launch a new joint reference design for LED lights

Marvell announced a partnership with Cree Ltd. to develop a joint reference design for a new light emitting diode (LED) lamp, furthering the ongoing collaboration between the companies to drive mass adoption of LED lighting.

     Marvell announced a partnership with Cree Ltd. to develop a joint reference design for a new light emitting diode (LED) lamp, furthering the ongoing collaboration between the companies to drive mass adoption of LED lighting. The new A19 60-watt dimmable LED light reference design combines the Cree XLamp LED and Marvell 88EM8183 deep dimming TRIAC LED driver integrated circuit (IC), enabling Oems and ODMs to offer the highest level of compatibility with existing dimmers. The new design features the industry's most advanced deep dimming performance, resulting in a system performance of 75 lumens per watt. The design also helps to significantly reduce the cost of LED bulbs and improve customer satisfaction with the product.

"Our latest A19 lamp joint reference design uses Marvell's innovative 88EM8183 driver IC," said Kishore Manghnani, vice president of Marvell's Green Technology Products Group. It solves several of the remaining issues - cost, dimming performance and light quality - that have led to the adoption of energy-efficient lighting technology among mass consumers."

Our joint reference design leverages Cree's latest XLamp XB-D LED and Marvell's deep dimming 88EM8183 driver IC, making retrofitting applications such as A19 bulbs the lowest lumen cost on the market. Together, Marvell and Cree provide lighting Oems and ODMs with quick to market solutions to promote cost-effective and energy-efficient lighting technologies around the world."
