MACOM introduces the second generation of 12G-SDI cable drivers

     MACOM Technology Solutions, Inc., a leading provider of semiconductor solutions for broadcast video infrastructure, today announced the availability of the MACD-23528A, a second-generation 12G-SDI cable driver. This second-generation cable driver exceeds all physical layer specifications noted in the SMPTE ST 2081-1 and ST 2082-1 standards and further improves performance by increasing the output signal's in-eye opening, reducing output jitter and extending the cable.

     The second-generation MACD-23528A is available in a 3mm x 3mm LFGA package. The packaging footprint is compatible with first-generation devices, making it possible for 12G-SDI early adopters to switch to new devices without any design changes necessary. In addition, the first and second generation cable drivers are compatible with MACOM's 3G-SDI cable drivers, providing customers with a seamless upgrade path from 3G to 12G. The MACD Metry-23528 also incorporates programmable pre-emphasis, which allows customers to configure fully optimized performance based on their own unique boards and connectors.
