Littelfuse's square-shape GDT protects against overvoltage transients and makes it easier to pick up and place the patch process
Littelfuse announced the launch of the smallest (5.0×5.0×4.2 mm) square gas discharge tube (GDT) on the market today, with a surge capacity of 5kA and an off-state capacitance of ≤0.7pF. The SH series GDT is designed to provide a high level of protection against fast-rising transients caused by lightning interference. Its low off-state capacitance can meet the requirements of high bandwidth applications, and its capacitance value does not change with the voltage signal at both ends of the GDT. The series is specifically designed to protect electrical, multimedia, and communications equipment from damage caused by overvoltage transients.
Typical applications of the SH-series gas discharge tubes include G.fast, xDSL, 10GbE, and 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet port protection in the telecom/data communications market; Protection of satellite coaxial cable, cable TV equipment and set-top boxes for the consumer market; Industrial automation interface protection for the industrial market, such as Ethernet, RS-485, RS-232, etc. And AC power line protection in power inverters/variable frequency drives (VFDS) for the renewable energy market.
