Launch of the next generation miniature Bluetooth radio with integrated SiP package

     Insight SiP has introduced the ISP2454-MX module in a package size of 8mm x 8mm x 1mm, the smallest package on the market. With an extended temperature capability of up to 105 degrees Celsius, the device can support the next generation of Bluetooth-based solutions, including Angle of arrival and new Bluetooth channel detection technology. The latest Nordic nRF54L15 is based on a fourth-generation radio and a two-speed MPU, offering an overall improvement in performance at a lower cost compared to devices based on the nRF52 family.

     The module can support a wide range of solutions, providing the powerful Arm M33F 128mhz processor and the advanced security features of Arm Trustzone. Power consumption is improved in radiation and sleep modes. The memory capacity has been increased by 1.5MB of storage and 256KB of RAM, allowing the largest and most complex applications to run. This improved performance also provides a cost advantage over NRF52-based devices, making it equally suitable for price-sensitive products.

     Despite its advanced features, the device comes in the company's standard 8mm x 8mm x 1mm package and offers a fully integrated solution with RF matching and integrated antennas. The inclusion of 32MHz and 32khz crystals and DC-DC support for each processor means it's a fully functional Bluetooth node that only needs a single power source to run.

     Various peripheral connections are available, including HS-SPI, SPI, UART, I2S, etc. There is also a software-programmable peripheral with a separate 128MHz RISC processor that supports optional high-speed peripherals. In addition to BLE support, the module can also run 802.15.4-based protocols such as Zigbee and Thread while BLE. The protocol stack and applications run on the real-time Zephyr operating system, which provides a rich set of drivers and services.

     If required, the module can use a coin battery. Thanks to its ultra-low power consumption and advanced power management system, the battery can last for years.
