Knowles Corporation introduces the smallest, most efficient digital MEMS microphone on the market with an I²S interface
Knowles Corporation, the world's leading supplier of micro acoustic solutions and components, announced the introduction of the most advanced integrated circuit built-in audio bus (Inter-IC Sound or I²S) interface MEMS(micro-electro-mechanical System) microphone. It is used in wearable devices, remote controllers, automotive, and smart home automation and security devices.
Knowles Corporation's solution offers superior size and power consumption, reducing package size by 25% and current consumption by 40% compared to competing products. By using this I²S interface, the microphones with bottom-interface digital MEMS allow manufacturers to connect directly to application processors or microcontrollers, reducing complexity, improving battery performance, and reducing material costs for a more efficient architecture.
This innovation is particularly important for space-constrained devices such as wearables. The motherboard of a wearable device is very small, so the requirements for the space occupied by its components are very strict. This new technology can be easily integrated with existing mobile device architectures and simplifies system integration by directly connecting to the signal processor.
