KEMET expands polymer capacitor lineup

     KEMET Corporation announced the release of its M55 module Polymer Seal (PHS) capacitor portfolio. KEMET's M550 M551 and modular series are designed for mission-critical high capacity and voltage applications and are produced by connecting T550 or T551 polymer-sealed capacitors in parallel. The series M55 is suitable for telecommunications, computer, defense and aerospace applications.

     With its strong anode quality, benign failure mode, mechanically robust assembly and epoxy housing, the M55 series modules are ideal for high voltage power management applications such as buck boost converter use, filtration, holding capacitance, and other high ripple or high surge current applications. The M55 modular series offers very low and stable ESR and improves retention of electrostatic capacitance at higher frequencies and low temperatures, resulting in the highest total capacitance and the most economical solution for high power applications.

     KEMET is qualified in the M55 series for DLA mapping 13030 to ensure that these products are suitable for high-reliability applications KEMET, in the aerospace community and several KEMET aerospace customers in physical association, have confirmed that this comprehensive mapping of discrete components included in rigorous test options is suitable for standard and high-reliability flight applications, including space. Discrete components according to this diagram are eligible for this modular solution and capacitors are available as options. The series M551 offers all the performance advantages of the M550 series, but with a temperature increase of 125 degrees Celsius. The M550 modular series is rated at 105 degrees Celsius.
