Intersil, a Renesas subsidiary, introduces five simultaneous step-down regulators

     Intersil, a subsidiary of Renesas Electronics, announced the launch of five synchronous step-down regulators - ISL85014, ISL85012, ISL85009, ISL85005A and ISL85005 - that reduce the 12V supply rail voltage to a point-to-load input voltage of 0.6V. Suitable for MCUS, FPgas, memory and peripheral I/O. The five latest step-down regulators in the ISL850xx family offer 14A, 12A, 9A, and 5A continuous output currents to support industrial computers and programmable logic controllers, as well as telecommunications, test and measurement, server, and storage networking equipment.

     The ISL850xx synchronous step-down regulator supports 3.8V-18V input voltages and a wide output current range, giving designers a complete portfolio with high efficiency and reliable performance. These pin-compatible regulators integrate high-side and low-side MOSFETs with very low on-resistance (RDSon) to reduce external component count and power losses, thereby extending product life. Both FETs also provide current limiting and reverse current limiting functions to improve reliability and provide overcurrent protection for the system. The high efficiency ISL850xx helps to reduce the core temperature, allowing the system to operate without cooling fans or radiators. Its internal compensation circuit eliminates additional external components, reducing design complexity and material costs.

     The ISL85014 comes in one of the smallest 14A package sizes in the industry (3.5mm x 3.5mm), and the compact size helps to free up valuable board space. The ISL85009 is one of the most power-efficient 9A synchronous step-down regulators in the industry, offering a high side FET with an on-resistance of 17mΩ and a low side FET with an on-resistance of 8.5 Mω to significantly reduce core temperature for applications without a cooling system. The pin-compatible ISL85014, ISL85012 and ISL85009 are suitable for high load current applications, while the 5A ISL85005A and ISL85005 step-down switching regulators are pin-compatible with the previously released 3A ISL85003A and ISL85003 devices.
