Infineon's highly integrated Hall sensors significantly reduce system costs
The new generation of Hall sensors from Infineon Technologies AG ensures compliance with stringent environmental standards in automotive, industrial and consumer electronics applications. At the same time, they meet the requirements of cost-effective and compact design. The new generation of highly integrated TLx496x series Hall sensors features precise switching points, stable operating conditions and low power consumption. The new range includes latches and switches.
The TLx496x Hall sensor consumes less than 1.6mA, which is about 50% less power than similar products. Among them, the 5-V Hall sensor consumes only 1.4 mA. The highly robust electrostatic protection and precise and stable magnetic switching points of this series of sensors make them ideal for systems where energy efficiency, robustness and accuracy are required. The TLx496x Hall sensor can help reduce system costs. Two to four passive components that were installed in the previous generation can now be eliminated, which reduces the space they take up on the board.
All TLx496x Hall sensors, both switching and latching, are equipped with integrated Hall elements, regulators, choppers, oscillators and output drivers. The regulator supplies power to the Hall element and the active circuit. The chopper ensures that the temperature remains stable and minimizes the impact of process fluctuations. There are three reasons for the process fluctuation: First, due to the different manufacturing process, the magnetic switching point of each Hall sensor is slightly different; Secondly, with the increase of temperature, the permanent magnet brushless DC will degausse. Finally, the Hall output voltage is affected by pressure and temperature. The TLx496x Hall sensors compensate for all of these effects, so they are able to perform precise switching over the entire specified temperature range and life cycle.
Upgrades for 5-V systems in automotive applications: TLE496x
The TLE496x-xM series is suitable for automotive applications in the operating voltage range from 3.0V to 5.5V, where overcurrent is not typically experienced. Target applications include all systems requiring accurate Hall switches or Hall latches for the temperature range -40 °C to 170 °C. The TLE496x-xM is commonly used in power Windows and sunroof, trunk locks, wipers, seat belts, bumpers, gear shifters and many control elements used in brushless DC motors. The magnetic and switching points of the latched Hall sensor (TLE4963-1M/2M) make it particularly suitable for applications with accurate index calculations (for pole rotors and for recording rotor positions) and brushless DC motors. The Hall switch (TLE4965-5M) is particularly suitable for recording switch and lever positions, as well as detecting their switching status.
Upgrades for 5-V systems in industrial applications: TLI496x
The TLl496x-xM series is functionally identical to the TLE496x-xM series, but it has a specified temperature range of -40 °C to 125 °C and complies with JESD47 standards. The TLl496x-xM is commonly used for brushless DC motors in electric vehicles, fans in computers, electric drives in building automation facilities (such as shutters and garage doors), as well as the detection of large household appliance switches and building security/theft protection.
Upgraded product for cost-sensitive consumer electronics applications: TLV496x
The TLV496x-xTA/B series is specifically designed for cost-effective and contactless positioning. Typical applications include brushless DC motors for large household appliances such as dishwashers and washing machines, air conditioning compressors, computer fans, as well as blinds, garden tools, and building security/theft prevention (such as door and window contacts, doors, and blinds). Despite the pressure to reduce costs, these applications require very accurate Hall latches or Hall switches (unipolar/bipolar) for temperatures ranging from -40 °C to 125 °C. The TLV496x-xTA/B Series Hall sensors consume only 1.6 mA and offer ESD protection of up to 4 kVH HBM(human discharge mode). The output has overcurrent protection and automatic shutdown at high temperature.
