Industry's lowest consumption current and enhanced security Toshiba's new IC for Bluetooth Smart new devices

     Toshiba Corporation's Storage and Electronic Component Solutions Corporation today announced the launch of two new ics, the "TC3567CFSG" and the "TC3567DFSG," which deliver industry-leading low current consumption comparable to previous products while offering enhanced security features. These new ics are the latest in Toshiba's lineup of ics that support Bluetooth Low Energy(LE) ver.4.2 communications

     Like their predecessors, these new ics use a high-efficiency DC-DC converter and original low-power circuit design to achieve a peak current consumption of 3.3mA at transmit mode, 3V supply voltage. They are also able to obtain a random number of up to 32 bytes using a random number generator, which is hardware integrated into the IC as a new feature that helps enhance the information security of iot products.

     The "TC3567CFSG" integrates 128KB flash memory for storing various data in user programs and standalone operations and can execute applications up to about 50KB. Like its predecessors, the new IC incorporates an RF matching circuit and a crystal load capacitor for the clock generator, reducing the number of external components during the IC design phase to as few as seven in some cases. This helps to reduce costs and reduce installation area.

     The "TC3567DFSG" has no built-in flash memory, and it achieves extremely low operating current by reducing the current consumption to access the flash memory. As a result, it supports longer operating times for applications powered by small button batteries. For example, if a CR2032 button battery is used, the new IC can perform beacon operations for more than 2 years.

     These new ics will facilitate the adoption of Bluetooth LE communication in iot products that require a high level of security, including health care applications, wearables, and small devices that use button batteries such as sensors and toys. They will enable manufacturers to optimize product value.
