     With built-in hardware virtualization capabilities, the new quad-cluster PowerVRSeries8XT enables automotive Oems to provide secure, high-performance graphics capabilities for numerous displays in the vehicle. PowerVR hardware virtualization enables complete isolation of services from applications to ensure security in the event of a system breach or data loss. The platform allows up to eight simultaneous applications or services to run in separate containers, allowing automotive Oems to deploy and remove services without affecting other simultaneous services.

     As more and more in-car infotainment systems switch to more feature-rich operating systems, such as Android, which can run compatible apps, it is becoming increasingly important for Gpus to have full hardware virtualization capabilities in order to accommodate more applications. With a single PowerVRGPU, you can provide a rich graphics environment for infotainment systems, protect dashboards and other important display information from malware, and thus achieve a higher level of system integration and lower costs while maintaining critical requirements for design security.

     The PowerVR quad-cluster Series8XT offers significantly more design flexibility than its predecessor, enabling automotive Oems to prioritize their systems based on graphical or computational applications. The Series8XTGT8540 runs long periods of computing on a single shader processor (SPU) for ADAS functions such as lane departure warning, blind spot detection, and panoramic surround. Other tasks, such as the infotainment system and dashboard display, can be run on the second SPU, using a prioritization mechanism to achieve the system's performance goals.

As the automotive industry moves toward the launch of L4 and L5 autonomous vehicles, powerful Gpus will power numerous high-resolution displays. Imagination has the strength to support this technology. The ability to use each SPU to run multiple workloads will be a potential game changer for the automotive industry.
