IDT introduces the latest series of low-jitter SiGe VCSO products for fiber optic telecommunications applications

     IDT Corporation announced that it has introduced a new family of low-jitter silicon germanium (SiGe) surface acoustic (SAW) voltage-controlled oscillators (VCSO). Complementary to IDT's popular M675 series and high performance timing portfolio, the new product family is designed with higher frequency low jitter oscillators to meet the stringent requirements of fiber optic telecommunications applications.

     IDT's M675S02 series is a single-frequency, single-output VCSO generated for low jitter and low phase noise clocks that can support fundamental frequencies from 500MHz to 1GHz. The new devices offer higher frequencies than previous generations. Low jitter and phase noise help reduce the overall bit error rate (BER), making the device ideal for PLL applications, clock and data recovery circuits, and other timing applications in telecommunications and fiber optic network systems.

     Fred Zust, IDT's vice president and general manager of Timing & Synchronization, said: "The M675S02 builds on the success of the M675 series VCSO, and the increased frequency range addresses new high-performance markets. To achieve these high frequencies, we are looking beyond standard CMOS processes to SiGe, ultimately demonstrating our commitment to innovation and continuing to offer the industry's broadest timing portfolio."

     IDT's high frequency M675S02 is available in a small 5x7.5 mm package, suitable for compact and dense airtight packaging. In addition, it offers an absolute pull-up range (APR) of ±120 ppm, linear tuning, and a modulation bandwidth of 600 kHz. In addition to telecommunications and fiber optic networking applications, the device also provides a low-jitter clock reference for analog-to-digital converters.
