IDT has announced the expansion of its VersaClock 5 series programmable clock generator, a new device that simplifies the generation of PCIe clocks in designs while providing the flexible output for which the VersaClock product family is known.

     IDT has announced the expansion of its VersaClock 5 series programmable clock generator, a new device that simplifies the generation of PCIe clocks in designs while providing the flexible output for which the VersaClock product family is known. The new member of the high-performance VersaClock 5 family features a dedicated low-power HCSL (LP-HCSL) output that reduces board space and material cost (BOM) by providing an integrated clock generation and distribution solution for PCIe designs.

     The 5P49V5907 and 5P49V5908 devices have universal three-way clock outputs capable of producing any frequency up to 350 MHz in various output types, with additional 4 - or 8-way LP-HCSL outputs specifically for PCIe clocks. These devices share the best jitter and power performance in their class with the original 5P49V5901.

     The VersaClock 5 series programmable timing devices have excellent jitter performance while consuming half the power of the competition. These devices have root-mean-square (RMS) phase jitter of less than 0.7ps over the entire 12 kHz to 20 MHz integration range, making them ideal for high-end consumer electronics, networking, computing, industrial, and communications market applications.
