IDT expands its portfolio of leading programmable timing devices
IDT Corporation announced the expansion of its leading portfolio of programmable timing devices with the release of the 5P11xx series of low-jitter universal output fan Out buffers, which provide high performance with only 200 fs additive jitter, giving design engineers greater flexibility.
The flexible output of the 5P11xx series allows engineers to use a single device to meet system requirements containing multiple signal types, which reduces costs and saves space by reducing the number of components required. This family of devices can accept any level of clock input and can produce any level of output. The user can specify the signal type and voltage for each output of the buffer, which means that a single device can provide LVPECL on one output, LVDS on another output, and LVCMOS on a third output.
The 5P11xx series of high-performance devices is ideal for a wide range of applications such as high-end consumer electronics, networking, computer, industrial, communications and broadcast video.
Dave Shepard, vice president and general manager of IDT's Timing and RF business unit, said: "Our new family of universal output fan out buffers provides extremely low jitter, enabling customers to implement different output types with the same buffer device to meet different requirements for SOCs and FPgas. "By adding these new features to IDT's timing portfolio, our customers can reduce material costs by using the same buffer across multiple boards and applications."
The IDT 5P11xx series buffer clock outputs can be individually programmed to LVDS, LVPECL, HCSL or two LVCMOS outputs per output pair, using crystal, LVCMOS or differential inputs. These chips enable four universal output pairs, as well as a reference LVCMOS output clock. LVCMOS output frequency ranges from 1MHz to 200MHz, and differential output frequency ranges from 1MHz to 350MHz. The output voltage can be selected individually for each output pair (1.8V, 2.5V or 3.3V). The 5P11xx series has two general-purpose outputs and one LVCMOS output for the 5P1103 and four general-purpose outputs and one LVCMOS output for the 5P1105
